Oliver Cradock

(he/him)
Oliver is an ARB registered architect who trained at the University of Westminster, Oxford Brookes University and the University of Portsmouth.
Oliver has over 8 years experience in architectural practice, completing projects across multiple scales and sectors. Oliver has worked at several multi-award winning RIBA certified contemporary architecture practices. These include the internationally-renowned Foster + Partners in London, modern and design-led residential specialist practices Paul Cashin Architects and AR Design Studio in Winchester, Hampshire, as well as the long established and client focused practice Allan Joyce Architects in Nottingham, East Midlands.
He has worked with a number of clients including independent businesses, higher education providers, charities, private residential clients and developers.
Oliver is particularly interested in the potentials of design-led creative architecture and pushing the boundaries of how architecture is perceived in the everyday.
In 2016, Oliver was awarded MA Master of Architecture with distinction at the University of Westminster, where he was a part of the renowned Design Studio 15 under the tutelage of Sean Griffiths of FAT Architects and Dr Kester Rattenbury. During his time at the University of Westminster, he was nominated for the award for Best Portfolio and his dissertation is framed and exhibited within the faculty buildings. Oliver’s studies focused on challenging creativity through the medalling influence of chance and how chance/change can be used to bring value and improvement to the design and architectural process. Oliver’s very personal thesis was centred on analysing the architecture of the home through our relationships with our belongings and posessions by using the case study of his own childhood home and the backdrop of his parents’ hoarding disorder as a counterpoint to the often reverred architectural notions of simplicity, order and minimalism that have been at the forefront of much modern architectural discourse.
In 2012, Oliver completed his BA(Hons) Architecture degree at Oxford Brookes University with First Class Honours. He was tutored by Dr Sarah Stevens and his studies focused on ideas of challenging what constitutes ‘architecture’ and exploring its relationship with people, topography, society and environment. As part of these studies, Oliver was nominated for the award for Best Hand Drawings.
Outside of architecture, Oliver has a passion for local independent businesses, cafes and restaurants.
Oliver is currently based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands.
